7/6 Following up on the success of his self-produced 2009 album, Cocky & Confident, rapper Juvenile is back for more with catchy beats, fiery lyrics and a unique sound that only he could pull off. Insisting that Beast Mode would be void of collaborators and guest artists, Juvenile did not rule out the likely possibility that he would recruit some of his peers to record remixes of his singles. Jerrod Niemann Judge Jerrod & The Hung Jury

7/13 American country music artist Jerrod Niemann is ready to drop his first major record album via Arista Nashville’s Sea Gayle label. Judge Jerrod & The Hung Jury is full of fun, catchy sing-along songs, such as hit singles “One More Drinkin’ Song” and “Lover, Lover,” which became Niemann’s first-ever Top-10 single. Sleigh Bells Treats

7/20 This Brooklyn-based duo featuring guitarist Derek Miller and singer Alexis Krauss is ready to wow your pants off with their grungy, rhythmic pop sound that will force you to your feet and drag you out to the dance floor. Named a “Band to Watch” by Stereogum, Sleigh Bells is ready to take the dance/pop scene by storm with raging beats and heart-filled vocals that conjure every emotion. Treats comes out on the Mom + Pop Music label in special partnership with NEET Recordings, a label run by M.I.A., with with whom Krauss has often been compared. Guy Namath

Pearl Jam: Backspacer

Strong, up-tempo stuff you can really sink your teeth into. Those are the words that describe the American alternative rock band’s ninth studio album. Guitarist Mike McCready called it a “tight, concise rock ‘n’ roll record with a tint of pop and new wave elements.”

Pearl Jam has closed a deal with Target to be the exclusive big-box store retailer for the upcoming album. The album title is a tribute to a typewriter key used by lead vocalist Eddie Vedder in his music writing. It’s also the name of the 375-kilogram female sea turtle Pearl Jam sponsored in the Great Turtle Race, which raised money for Conservation International.

Boys Like Girls: Love Drunk

Releases: 9/8

Two producers/production teams, two recording sites and two styles of inspiration are more than appropriate for the rock/pop band’s second studio album.  With talk of R&B singer Chris Brown adding back vocals on the album, Boys Like Girls fans are in for a treat. And, leaning toward a more pop sound than their punkish colleagues, they won’t disappoint.

The title single, “Love Drunk,” roars opens with a chiming guitar and drum beat before launching into the catchy tune that moves straight into the chorus. By the end of the song, listeners will be joining in tune. The band’s album sets it apart from other fading/unoriginal punk/pop bands currently making records.

Sean “Diddy” Combs: Last Train to Paris

With over 75 million records sold worldwide, the rapper/producer icon is about to leave another mark on pop culture with his upcoming fifth studio album. Diddy described the album as an “electro-hip-hop-soul-funk” album. He says Last Train to Paris is deeper than his previous stuff, a profound love story.

This album features collaborations with producers The Dream, Tricky, T-Pain and others. After trying his hand in business for the past two years, Diddy said he is ready to focus on being an artist again. He has recently been named one of the most influential business people in the world by Time magazine and CNN. (None of the tracks from this album are currently available so I picked one of my favorite Diddy songs)

Lynyrd Skynyrd: God & Guns

Back for another round, legendary Southern rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd is releasing its first set of new studio material since 2003’s Vicious Cycle. With input from guitarist John 5 and a combination of elite Skynyrd-minded songwriters, the album emerges with the classic Skyrnyrd sound mixed with a contemporary feel.

The lead single, “Still Unbroken,” laden with attitude, is sure to attract some attention. Unwilling to relinquish their status in the music industry, the album is about survival of spirit: unbowed, uniquely American and stubbornly resolute. Adding to their catalog of over 60 albums, God & Guns continues to represent the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame powerhouse that is Skynyrd.

Black Eyed Peas: The E.N.D.

Release Date: 6/09

The E.N.D. is the fifth studio album by the hip-hop/pop group. The lead single from the album, “Boom Boom Pow,” has already reached #1 on the U.S. Hot 100, their first #1 in the U.S. In an interview with Billboard.com, will.i.am stated that The E.N.D. stands for “The Energy Never Dies. It’s a diary… of music that at any given time, depending on the inspiration, you can add to it.” The music is similar to previous work, with songs to dance to, real melodic, electronic and soulful. The band has been confirmed to begin a “monster show” tour this summer.

Jonas Brothers: Lines, Vines and Trying Times

Release Date: 6/15

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Nick Jonas explained the title, Lines, Vines and Trying Times, stating that “The title is a bit of poetry we came up with on the set for the TV show.” He said it’s a journal in songs, pulling inspiration from personal experiences and adding different musical instruments to build on the sound they’ve already mastered. It will treat fans with three distinct sounds, including funk, a little bit of country and classic rock. The Jonas Brothers World Tour 2009, which includes performances with Jordin Sparks and Honor Society, will feature songs from the upcoming album.

Daryle Singletary: Rockin’ In The Country

Daryle Singletary returns to action with his first album in several years and a new single, “Love You With The Lights On,” which is a powerful, sexy ballad. Tagged as the best traditional country singer of his generation, Daryle holds vocally true to form, rendering a fabulous set of great new songs. Eminem: Relapse

Guess who’s back… back again. Shady’s back… tell a friend. Yup, after a five-year hiatus, Em is back with his riveting, infuriating, and often times hilarious lyrics that touch on everything from pop culture to the core of his family issues. Relapse, Em’s sixth studio album, is the first Slim Shady album since 2004’s Encore, and this record promises to be much edgier, even though the first single, “We Made You,” is a more tongue-in-cheek, poppy song that displays Em’s typical boyish humor. Guest appearances on Relapse include 50-Cent and Dr. Dre. Relapse was produced by Aftermath Entertainment, Interscope Records and Shady Records, with Dre, himself, handling most of the mixing.

Ciara: Fantasy Ride

R&B/pop singer Ciarais dropping her third studio album early this month. The record’s first single, “Go Girl” featuring T-Pain, was released early last year to much delight from Ciara fans nationwide. Fantasy Ride will showcase tons of top-line guest appearances, including Young Jeezy on “Never Ever” and Justin Timberlake on “Love Sex Magic.” Both of those singles have also been released to rave reviews. Expect to hear cameos from Ludacris, Chris Brown and The-Dream as well.

Green Day: 21st Century Breakdown

Release: 5/15

After the critically acclaimed American Idiot album wowed fans everywhere, Green Day knew they had to step it up for their eighth studio album. “We could take a sideways step or go back to our roots. We chose to move forward. It’s about reflecting what’s been happening the past three years and putting it to melody with some bold statements,” said frontman Billie Joe Armstrong. Influenced by Queen, The Who, The Beatles and The Clash, 21st Century Breakdown is a musical tour de force that will touch on themes of religion, politics, society and hope. The title track from the album, according to Rolling Stone, is the “most epic Green Day song yet.”  We’re sure you’ll agree!

Busta Rhymes: Back On My B.S.

Busta returns with his insane lyrics and unparalleled rapping speed to shred the competition to bits. With a slew of guest stars, including Mary J. Blige, Pharrell, Common, T-Pain, Ludacris and many more, Back On My B.S. promises to be another head-banging, partying album full of thoughtful and well-constructed rhymes. “Don’t Touch Me” was the record’s first promo single, while “We Made It” featuring Linkin Park became the album’s first official single. According to Busta himself, “You’re gonna get your traditional Busta Rhymes and Pharrell collabo.
