The Arnette name has traditionally been associated with surfers, skateboarders, wakeboarders or various other cool and gnarly athletic-types who say “Dude” a lot. But Arnette wants everybody, even the guy from Nebraska who’s afraid of jellyfish, to look cool.

Arnette’s ’09 lineup of super cool shades appeals not only to the traditional tanned crowd who has donned the Arnette logo since they were born, but to the rest of us in Florida who actually don’t live near the beach.

The Wanted

You don’t have to live near the beach or be on a yacht navigating through coral reefs off the coast of St. Kitts to wear the polarized version of the Wanted. The optional amber-colored, polarized lenses not only complement the Brown Havana color, they take the reflection and glare off the water so you can spot anything that might scratch your schooner’s finish. The polarized version are yours for $119.95. Not a yacht owner? The non-polarized are $89.95.

The Alter Ego

Proof that it’s possible to be chunky andsleek at the same time, the Alter Ego looks like what Sleepy Brown would wear to the beach. Don’t know who Sleepy Brown is? Then you’re probably not cool enough to sport these shades. The Alter Ego comes in eight different colors and you can pick up a pair for $89.95 or $119.95 for a set with polarized lenses.

The Snap

You don’t even have to look at the inside label to know these shades are made in Italy. They look like they should come standard with all new Ferraris. No matter what color and lens combo you pick, you can be guaranteed at least a few square inches of your face will be absolutely beautiful. The Snap will cost you $89.95 for non-polarized and $119.95 for the polarized.

The Defy

Chunky-sleek not your style? Then try something a little more serious. The matte black Defy can make even the skinniest and frail Freshman look like a complete badass. And because freshman girls have no need to look like anything other than freshman girls, the Defy comes in a Brown Havana that matches just about any outfit. The Defy runs $89.95 for the regular and $119.95 for a polarized pair.

The Agent

Who says hipsters have to wear cheap Wal-Mart sunglasses? The Agent is a throwback to the ‘80s style that put companies like Arnette on the map. The Agent’s six colors range from Bob Dylan black to an orange Kanye West would be proud to wear. You can pick up your own piece of Sunglass Americana for $89.95.

You can pick up any of these cool shades anywhere fine eye wear is sold, (A.K.A. not at Wal-Mart) or at arnette.com.
