So you sat on your fat, lazy ass all summer and didn’t bother worrying about getting a good dorm assignment which means you get stuck in the ones with no air conditioning in the middle of August. Smart thinking champ. To top it all off the powers that be won’t allow you to put a window unit in because of those pesky fire codes. You have three options: Sweat your ass off until mid October, make nice with some hottie who actually HAS AC and stay at their house every night or make your own dorm-friendly air conditioner.
Since sweating sucks and chances are you’re a freshman who has a better chance of finding Bigfoot than a hot girl who will let you stay with her every night, let’s go with the third option. Making your own AC is actually quite easy once you know the principals of how an AC works. These two videos show how to make two slightly different variations of a dorm-friendly AC unit.
Here’s one that’s a little more complicated but makes use of a pump so you don’t have to keep swapping out buckets of water. I personally would go with this one if you had the available parts.
