Although “Ouija” is trademarked by board game big shots Parker Brothers, the mystique of the Ouija board extends beyond the friendly confines of children’s games. By definition, an Ouija board is any flat panel that consists of letters, numbers and symbols, as well as a “planchette,” which is the triangular decoder that moves around the board.
You play by asking a question and watching as the planchette slowly moves around the board to reveal a message from the contacted spirit. When asking a question, the typical rule of thumb is that one or more people hold their hand(s) over the planchette as it moves.
People have been known to use the board to contact lost friends and relatives, but there have been several documented cases of “other” spirits trying to contact the living realm via the Ouija board.
Now that you’re well equipped to contact the dead, be sure to proceed with caution, as you never know when an evil spirit will take over your board and threaten to turn your friend into a mongoose.

Power Outage
A group of girlfriends were using a Ouija board in an apartment one evening.
Giggling and laughing the whole time, the girls thought the game was amusing, to say the least. That is, until they asked the Ouija board to show them a sign of confirmation. Instantaneously, the power went out in their apartment. Shocked, the girls looked outside to see if their neighbors had also lost power. To their utter disbelief, every other building on the block still had electricity. Only their apartment was dark as night. The girls quickly folded up the board and put it away,
never to be played again.
Billy’s Blue Shirt
Three boys were summoning the spirit of a recently deceased classmate named Billy. One of the boys asked Billy what he was doing, and Billy responded by telling them that he was rummaging through one of their closets looking for an old shirt of his. Tim, the boy whom Billy had lent the shirt to, immediately went to his closet to see if anything strange was happening. When he got there, he found everything as it was… except for Billy’s blue shirt lying on the ground. Tim hadn’t worn that shirt in over three months and it had been hanging in the back of his closet since then.
Grandpa-to-be From Beyond The Grave
I was using a Ouija board shortly after my father passed away. I asked a few questions, including whether or not he was watching over me. My dad responded by saying he was always watching me and that unbeknownst to me, I was pregnant with twins and would be due on August 15th. Sure enough, I delivered two boys on August 15th and named them both in his memory. I’ve since used the Ouija board to talk with him as often as possible.
Last minute tip: When you’re done with your session, don’t forget to slide the planchette to “GOODBYE” and remove your hands. This is an important step and a failure to do this could result in some bad luck. Not that that would be anything different for you, but just in case.
